Born in Havana, this piece features the Mojito surrounded by its most fundamental ingredients in a colourful, contemporary, polygonal style. 12"x12" art print mounted on wood fiberboard 3/8" thick (about the size of a vinyl album cover.) 100% Canadian - designed, printed, and assembled in Vancouver, Canada using Canadian materials ready to hang - no framing necessary matte laminate offers permanent protection from fingerprints, dirt, moisture and other contaminants clean with a damp cloth without risk of damage keyhole slot in the back for easy, secure hanging on a single screw ingredient list appears at the bottom of the design Thought to have medicinal origins dating back to 16th century explorers, the Mojito still holds a restorative power today - provided you find yourself afflicted by a hot summer patio. A global favourite with only a handful of ingredients, the Mojito is a quintessential cocktail. Designed by Justin Holmes in Vancouver, Canada, each image is made-up of thousands of triangles, digitally hand-placed and coloured - no filters or algorithms are used.

$40.00 CAD
Perhaps the most visually iconic cocktail, this piece features the Gin Martini surrounded by its most fundamental ingredients in a colourful, contemporary, polygonal style. 12"x12" art print mounted on wood fiberboard 3/8" thick (about the size of a vinyl album cover.) 100% Canadian - designed, printed, and assembled in Vancouver, Canada using Canadian materials ready to hang - no framing necessary matte laminate offers permanent protection from fingerprints, dirt, moisture and other contaminants clean with a damp cloth without risk of damage keyhole slot in the back for easy, secure hanging on a single screw ingredient list appears at the bottom of the design The modern form of the Martini was solidified around 1922 when London dry gin and dry vermouth were combined at a ratio of 2:1. Although the cocktail itself only has two main ingredients, gin usually has a minimum of 6 botanicals, the most essential being Juniper. Dry vermouth is similarly infused with many different herbs. With each gin and vermouth having secret proprietary recipes, it's impossible to know what combination of greenery is in each glass. So, here are 21 of the most common herbs and spices used in both gin and vermouth. Rather than piles of dried-up seasonings, the delicate flavours of the martini are depicted as the botanicals in bloom. Designed by Justin Holmes in Vancouver, Canada, each image is made-up of thousands of triangles, digitally hand-placed and coloured - no filters or algorithms are used.

$40.00 CAD
Made in Canada, this piece features the Bloody Caesar surrounded by its most fundamental ingredients in a colourful, contemporary, polygonal style. 12"x12" art print mounted on wood fiberboard, 3/8" thick. 100% Canadian - designed, printed, and assembled in Vancouver, Canada using Canadian materials ready to hang - no framing necessary matte laminate offers permanent protection from fingerprints, dirt, moisture and other contaminants clean with a damp cloth without risk of damage keyhole slot in the back for easy, secure hanging on a single screw ingredient list appears at the bottom of the design Invented in 1969 by Walter Chell in Calgary, Alberta, the Caesar is a uniquely Canadian cocktail. The savory concoction doesn't get much love outside of the Great White North, but those who do love it make up for all the slack. It's rumoured that Canada's national pastime isn't hockey, but inventing increasingly outlandish ways to garnish our national drink. Designed by Justin Holmes in Vancouver, Canada, each image is made-up of thousands of triangles, digitally hand-placed and coloured - no filters or algorithms are used.

$40.00 CAD
A Mexican classic, this piece features the Margarita surrounded by its most fundamental ingredients in a colourful, contemporary, polygonal style. 12"x12" art print mounted on wood fiberboard 3/8" thick 100% Canadian - designed, printed, and assembled in Vancouver, Canada using Canadian materials ready to hang - no framing necessary matte laminate offers permanent protection from fingerprints, dirt, moisture and other contaminants clean with a damp cloth without risk of damage keyhole slot in the back for easy, secure hanging on a single screw ingredient list appears at the bottom of the design The origin of the Margarita is somewhat contentious, but it was probably first served in Mexico sometime between 1930-1940. The iconic glass and salted rim are unmistakable. On a hot afternoon they're sub-lime! ... I'll see myself out. Designed by Justin Holmes in Vancouver, Canada, each image is made-up of thousands of triangles, digitally hand-placed and coloured - no filters or algorithms are used.

$40.00 CAD
A tribute to the classic enjoyed as far back as the 1700's, this piece features a Bourbon Sour surrounded by its most fundamental ingredients in a colourful, contemporary, polygonal style. 12"x12" art print mounted on wood fiberboard 3/8" thick (about the size of a vinyl album cover.) 100% Canadian - designed, printed, and assembled in Vancouver, Canada using Canadian materials ready to hang - no framing necessary matte laminate offers permanent protection from fingerprints, dirt, moisture and other contaminants clean with a damp cloth keyhole slot in the back for easy, secure hanging on a single screw ingredient list appears at the bottom of the design Originally made with rum and heavily watered down, this cocktail originated as a way for sailors to avoid scurvy and contaminated water. On return to shore the sailors brought their acquired taste with them, but substituted a liquor more commonly available in the Americas - whiskey. Designed by Justin Holmes in Vancouver, Canada, each image is made-up of thousands of triangles, digitally hand-placed and coloured - no filters or algorithms are used.

FAQ
Justindeed is the art and design practice of Justin Holmes, based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Original digital art that I print locally as large format art pieces, small prints, greeting cards, coasters, and other small goods. I try to make things that I would want to own at a high level of quality. If you want something specific, please get in touch.
The artwork is created using digital art tools and issued as a physical object. I use my hands to move my mouse and push the keys until art comes out of the computer. I don't use a stylus and tablet because I never learned how.
Each listing will state whether that object is unique, part of a numbered limited edition, or an open-edition print, along with its materials, dimensions, signature, and reproduction policy.
No. I create art as equal parts self expression and flagellation. The process, time, and personal decisions that go into making each piece are just as important as the final product's visual appearance. Handing off creative decision making would deprive myself of that anxious journey, so what would be the point?
I do not use generative AI to create or alter artwork. I use a computer as a creative medium, but the concepts, composition, and final decisions are entirely my fault.
The work remains on the site as part of the archive and is clearly marked Sold. Keeping sold work visible documents the body of work and gives a more complete view of the practice and evolution.
Yes, I consider selected art and design commissions. Email a description of the project, intended use, approximate dimensions, timing, and budget range so I can determine whether it is a fit.
Yes. I consider focused graphic-design projects and licensing enquiries for selected existing artwork.
Available shipping options for prints, cards, and coasters are shown in the shop during checkout. Shipping, delivery, or pickup is available. For larger original work, appropriate arrangments will be confirmed before purchase is finalized.
Wholesale enquiries are welcome for suitable repeatable products such as greeting cards, small prints, and coasters. Email for current terms and availability. Generally, whatever is visible in the store on this page is available wholesale.
A purchase transfers ownership of the physical object only. Justin Holmes retains copyright and reproduction rights unless a separate written licensing agreement says otherwise.
I usually start with one idea rather than a plan for a whole series. If a piece works, I often keep going to see what else is possible within that idea. A lot of experiments never make it past that stage.
I work mainly in Adobe Illustrator, using my own photography and occasional reference images as starting points. Early stages are messy: sketches, moodboards, collage, rough digital mockups, and a lot of trial and error while I figure out the visual language of the piece.
From there it becomes a long process of creating, adjusting, undoing, and refining until something clicks. CTRL+Z is probably my most-used tool. When a piece feels right, it makes the normally half-tuned radio static in my brain into a smooth dial tone. That might sound like some sort of artsy metaphor, but it’s literally a sound I hear in my head.
Finished work is produced locally as fine-art prints. Larger pieces are intended as unique 1/1 works, while smaller prints are currently open editions. I proof colours carefully, inspect the final prints myself, and sign and number limited or unique work as appropriate.
I’m most interested in substantial identity and branding projects rather than simply executing a finished idea. I start by meeting with the client, listening, asking questions, and learning as much as I can about the business, its goals, audience, competitors, and the space it operates in. Then I research, make moodboards, and sketch widely, usually on graph paper, and usually far more (terrible) concepts than the client ever sees.
From there I present a focused set of directions, and we work together to narrow them down. I want candid feedback from the person I’m designing for, with plenty of opportunity to change course early. The process goes from broad ideas to increasingly specific refinements until the important decisions have been made and there’s nothing useful left to iterate.
The final package can extend well beyond a logo: colour systems, typography, brand guidelines, templates, stationery, presentation materials, signage, print production, and whatever else is needed to make the identity usable and consistent. I’ve been doing this for more than 20 years, I’m not precious about my ideas, and I’d rather build something that genuinely fits the client than chase whatever happens to be fashionable.
